Pediatric Speech Therapy Services
Our Mission
At Speaking Life Speech Therapy & Wellness, our mission is to ‘Speak Life” and support the WHOLE child through a holistic approach of addressing wellness in addition to comprehensive and productive family education and direct speech therapy services.
Speech Therapy Addresses More Than Just Speech!
Often times, people assume speech therapy only has to do with speaking. We look at total communication and helping children take part functionally in their environments. Whether your child is struggling with articulation, language delays, feeding challenges, or complex communication needs, our holistic framework ensures that every aspect of their development is supported on their journey to confident communication, with your family equipped and empowered to support their success.
What sets us apart?
- Our unique methodology doesn’t just target speech sounds or language skills in isolation
- We discuss how factors like sleep, movement, and potential environmental toxins might be impacting your child’s communication development.
- Our integration of wellness coaching principles into family consultations improves outcomes
- We investigate possible root causes rather than just addressing symptoms
- We incorporate Orofacial Myofunctional therapy techniques and strategies
Virtual Services
Our virtual speech therapy services are delivered remotely through online platforms or video conferencing. This approach allows individuals to receive speech therapy from the comfort of their own homes or any location with internet access.
Virtual speech therapy offers flexibility in scheduling, making it convenient for individuals with busy lifestyles or those who may have difficulty attending in-person sessions.
It’s important to note that while virtual speech therapy can be effective, it may not be suitable for everyone
We currently can provide virtual services to clients living in Wisconsin.
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
Does your child mouth breath, snore, have difficulty sleeping, have misaligned teeth, or have difficulty with speech sounds? They may benefit from myofunctional therapy, techniques, or strategies.
Myofunctional speech therapy for children is a specialized form of therapy that focuses on improving orofacial muscle function, tongue placement, swallowing patterns, and overall oral coordination to address speech, swallowing, and dental difficulties. This root cause way of addressing concerns often aids in improved and faster outcomes. Click be low for an in depth explanation of Myofunctional Therapy
Speech Production
We utilize a dynamic approach to speech sound production disorders. Motor planning difficulty, phonological processing, and orofacial differences will all be assessed in addition to articulation placement in order to improve speech sound production and speech intelligibility.
Children may work on developing their ability to hear and distinguish between different speech sounds through auditory discrimination. These exercises help improve the individual’s awareness of correct sound production.
Language
Language disorders can manifest in various ways, including challenges with understanding language (receptive language) or expressing thoughts and ideas (expressive language). Speech therapy for language disorders aims to improve the child’s overall language skills.
Possible target areas may include: vocabulary, functional communication, receptive language, grammar, conversational skills, literacy skills, executive functioning skills and more.
Social Skills
We utilize a neurodiversity affirming approach to social skill difficulties. Rather than viewing neurological differences as deficits, the focus is on embracing and appreciating the unique strengths and perspectives that individuals with neurodivergent conditions bring.
While respecting neurodiversity, therapy will still address social communication skills based on the child’s goals and preferences. This can include working on pragmatic language, social interaction, and understanding social cues in a way that aligns with their needs.
Remember, it’s not just about your child’s skills.
