Understanding the Legal Requirements for Homeschooling in Wisconsin
Tina Hollenbeck is a former public school ESL teacher turned homeschool advocate, founder of the free Homeschool Resource Roadmap, and director of The Homeschool Loft — a parent resource center in Northeast Wisconsin. She and her husband Jeff homeschooled their two daughters from kindergarten through graduation and she has spent over 13 years equipping Wisconsin families with the tools and knowledge they need to homeschool with confidence.
Presentation Summary:
If you have ever wondered whether you are doing homeschooling “legally” in Wisconsin or felt confused about what the state actually requires, this session is for you. Tina will break down the legal definition of homeschooling in Wisconsin and walk you through exactly what you need to know to homeschool with clarity and confidence.
Finishing Well: How to Navigate the High School Years, College Applications, and Life Preparation as a Homeschool Family
Lisa Dettinger is a professional educator, certified life coach, and homeschool advocate with 30 years of teaching experience who homeschooled her own three children K-12. She is the author of Fully Whelmed: Shifting from Overwhelm to Overflow, founder of PowerHouse Writing e-courses for grades 4-12, and current Director of a private Christian middle and high school in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, where she has spent over 15 years helping families navigate graduation planning, college preparation, and post-secondary pathways.
Presentation Summary:
Homeschooling through the high school years brings a unique set of questions — from transcripts and college applications to raising children who are truly ready to launch into life on their own. Lisa will address both the practical and the personal side of homeschooling through high school, equipping parents with the tools and the perspective they need to finish well.

Learning Through Play: How Hands-On Education Builds Skills, Creativity, and a Love of Learning
Lo Trumbull is the founder of Play Time Crate, a Christian homeschool mom of three, and a passionate advocate for hands-on, joyful learning with over a decade of experience supporting families of children with special needs through social work and music education. She brings a unique blend of professional training, real-life homeschooling, and creative teaching experience to help families understand that play is not a break from learning — it is how children learn best.
Presentation Summary:
Lo will make the case that play is not “extra” — it is one of the most powerful educational tools available to homeschool families at every age and stage. Drawing from child development research and her own experience working with neurodiverse families, Lo will show parents how playful learning builds language, executive function, problem solving, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Beyond the IEP: Empowering Parents of Children with Additional Needs to Homeschool with Confidence
Elyse Scheeler, MS, CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist, certified wellness coach, homeschool coach, special needs advocate, and homeschool mom based in Southeast Wisconsin. As the founder of Speaking Life Speech Therapy & Wellness and host of the podcast Speaking Life Into Motherhood, Elyse has dedicated her career to equipping mothers with the clinical tools, advocacy skills, and supportive resources they need to champion their children’s developmental and educational needs.
Presentation Summary:
Many parents of children with additional needs (Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities etc.) feel tethered to the public school system because of the IEP — believing it is the only way to get their child the support they need. In this session, Elyse will demystify what an IEP actually is, what it provides, and what it does not, while empowering parents with the confidence, resources, and practical tools to know that they are fully capable of meeting their child’s unique needs at home — on their own terms.

Unleash Your Child’s Potential,
Elizabeth Elliott (B.Sc., CNDDP) is the Program Director ABC Foundations with advanced studies in Neuro-Developmental Delay Remediation, a Certified Listening Fitness Trainer, and a Certified Tomatis Practitioner — bringing a deeply developmental approach to children’s learning challenges. She has spoken at homeschool conventions across the country and, as a former homeschool mom, successfully guided both of her children all the way through high school and into college.
Presentation Summary:
Does your child reverse letters, struggle to follow directions, or seem unable to sit still no matter what you try? In Unleash Your Child’s Potential, Elizabeth will walk you through the root causes behind common learning and behavior challenges — and the drug-free solutions that actually address them at the source.
